Hey, I'm Dahlia, and I'm Alma. Welcome to the Gory Details podcast where we discuss horror from every angle. We break it down with humor, sarcasm, and curiosity. Looking at what scares and excites us most, what gets ignored, and the people shaping the genre right now.
SPEAKER_01I couldn't stop laughing. I know I was looking at you, but I don't know what you're laughing at. I'm laughing at you. Was it the faces I was making?
SPEAKER_00Before we started recording, you said that you when I said my head was itching.
SPEAKER_01Oh I thought she meant the inside of her head, and that gave me a full body chill.
SPEAKER_00I don't know why I found that so funny. Freaked me out. Okay. Speaking of creepy, uh we are discussing slashers this month. Uh why'd you choose you chose this topic?
SPEAKER_01Yes, because I I thought we'd have some fun with it because that's a classic. You know what I mean? I thought we could find a wide variety of different ones over the decades of all the different ones. So and you and you picked this one.
SPEAKER_00I did. And I picked this one because well the uh but also I actually it's one that I come to a lot and watch, and uh it's the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the original 1974. Um but it's one that I I I watch often, like several times a year. Oh really? Yeah, oh yeah. Um and also it's kind of funny. We were going to go to a drive, a drive-in one night, and we saw online that it was gonna be the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But it had so it was a you remember the movie posters? So it was a movie poster. It was a movie poster of the I don't know what year it came out, 2005-2010, of that version. So it's like ah, we'll still go anyways to drive in, you know, even though it's not the original, we were still gonna go and watch it. Well, we thought it would be fun to watch this one, the OG, beforehand. So we watched the movie, and then our thing was gonna be then to watch the remake, right? We show up at the drive-in and it was the original. So we ended up watching the original twice in one day. Oh my god, that's so funny. But we stayed. We it was like, oh well, we're here. This is kind this is a fun atmosphere too. So, you know, it just didn't make it any like I we sat through it and we watched it. I was still totally cool with that. That's how much I come to this movie and watch it, is kind of the point of all that.
SPEAKER_01Um well, I'm the opposite of that. This is one that I can't watch.
SPEAKER_00Oh shit.
SPEAKER_01I didn't even ask your permission beforehand. Oh, no, it was a great one. It's just I saw it a few years ago at the theater when it was available to watch one Halloween month. Um, it was a great like event that they put on because it had we got to watch Halloween, we got to watch this, we got to watch, you know, it was all the classics. And um this was one of them. So that was only like it was like just two, three years ago. And so that think that was the last time I watched it. But it's one that I don't watch often because to me it loses its appeal, it loses its, you know, all the good things that you like about it be all of a sudden become annoying and um and stuff like that. So I think this watch, so already um, you know, spoiler alert, uh, I just was annoyed too soon. It was too soon. It was too soon to watch it again for me. But we can we can talk more about it.
SPEAKER_00No, I love this, it's gonna be fun. Um, okay, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, like I said, 1974, 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. 85%. That's good. That's good. Also, also not as good as I thought it was gonna be, but that's still fucking good. Isn't that horrible that I think that? It's like obviously 85 is is a good score there. But for some reason, I thought that this specific movie would have been higher. But um, it's 82% with the kind of the general audience. Um right in line, yeah. Uh IMDB says five friends head out to rural Texas to visit the grave of a grandfather. On the way I'm laughing at myself through the way I said rural.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00On the way, they stumble across what appears to be a deserted house only to discover something sinister within. Some something armed with a chainsaw. I notice how chainsaw in this description that I'm reading, you can't see this because obviously you're not reading it. It is a uh chainsaw is together, is one word. But the movie it's two words.
SPEAKER_01The title. That's how I find it. And I always wonder why, and I don't think I've ever looked it up as to why it's spelled like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't, I don't know. I, you know, and the funny thing is, every single time I think about it, I I'm like, oh, I should look that up. And then I don't. So am I really that curious, though? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Obviously not, because neither of us has done it. So neither of us have the fucking information for you. So look it up yourselves.
SPEAKER_00I guess my point was I obviously don't care that much. But it's something I've always it has always kind of just been the out there. Like, what? Uh speaking of what, who wrote, who directed, cast, all that goodness.
SPEAKER_01Um this is written by Kim Hinkle and Toby Hooper and directed by Toby Hooper. And the cast is very small, and it's like just two groups of people. Like, I like how I'm describing this to you in detail, like you don't know what a cast is. Um, but we have Sally played by Marilyn Burns, um, Alan Danzigner plays Jerry, William Vale plays Kirk, Terry McMinn plays Pam, Paul A. Partain plays Franklin, and then you have the other side, Leatherface played by Gunnar Hansen, Edwin Neal plays the other random um, you know, hitchhiker guy, and Jim Sideout plays the gas station guy. So there you have it.
SPEAKER_00I was uh they're brothers. I think they're aren't they brothers?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I guess so. Yeah. Because I say this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, um, I lost my train of thought, but let's just go ahead and get right into it. Beginning, they try to tell you. Do you I don't know if you remember this when you were little? It was a true story, or they kind of, you know, it's fictional, but it's not kind of wink wink kind of thing. Do you remember when we were little being told? Because we're we're from Texas, and this movie takes place in Texas. And growing up, it's a thing that somebody always knew somebody who was a victim of the true stories behind the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That was so a thing. It that it it was like late, obviously, later on when we grow up and we look into, you know, this and that and and the history of Texas and and then this movie in particular, you know, we find out obviously. Just a whole bunch of, I don't know, nothing better to do than to try to associate yourself with a movie or a true story.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, this was like one of the hugest, like it was also like an urban legend thing that you could go visit the house, and there was a house down here in the fucking valley. I mean, we believed that shit. We thought that there was like a house down here or the valley or in the south. Something southern to San Antonio for sure, because I remember driving around because people would go drive around to the house that was supposedly the Texas Chase Hall Massacre House.
SPEAKER_00So that was pretty cool. I'm just I'm getting like firsthand embarrassment from myself. We believed all this stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we did, but we didn't have the fucking internet. It's not fair, it's not comparable at all. We didn't have that shit. It's just so we had just word of mouth and just the beginnings of internet back, even like when we were still driving around to the house that supposedly was and the and the barbecue joint that was supposedly the the blah blah blah where the people were kept or whatever. And yeah, it was just just a bunch of silliness because we didn't have we didn't have what we have now, you know.
SPEAKER_00It's no, it's it's it's fun. It's fun to think about it. Um I might I might uh piss off some people here when I get into this part of the conversation I wanted to bring up. Um there was a lot of astrology going on in this movie. Yeah, yeah. I speaking of things that we used to really be into when we were younger, I was like everything.
SPEAKER_01We didn't have the internet. This is always my excuse for everything. We didn't have the internet. We all we had was real books. I remember seeing all the bookstores, though the ones with all the witchy shit. Damn, I can smell it. It like had a a smell to it, like this comforting, you know, intense.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, exactly. I mean it's it's very welcoming very, but it's just so funny. I was watching this when I was watching this last night. Um did I watch it last night or the night before? No, the night before. Um, I was just like, oh my god, yeah. Uh I'm a Pisces, by the way. Alma's a cancer, right? Cancer? Yeah. Yeah. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I was like, oh yeah, that's so me. That's me. I'm a Pisces. Whatever the fucking horoscope was of the day. Uh, but it does kind of uh come out to or or pan out to be true, though, in this case, because we're getting our horoscopes read in the beginning of this movie when we're doing this really cool road trip in a van. Um, they're reading the horoscopes, and one of them is like, well, first of all, they're talking about like uh Saturn is in retrograde or whatever. See, that's that's so horrible. I'm pissing off people right now. They're like, no, it's Venus. I don't know which planet is in retrograde, retrograde.
SPEAKER_01I know, I know I didn't pay attention. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00No, my point was they're telling us that these things are gonna happen. So I'm over here shitting on it, and it turned out to be true. But yeah, so uh they have a curse put on them too. Remember that? Oh, yes, yes, uh-huh. I forgot about that. Yeah. Um, so a lot of uh supernatural stuff going on, this slasher. Not really, but it kind of makes you think that it is like this is a curse.
SPEAKER_01Ooh, this is your horoscope, ooh. See, that's good, that'll piss people off. Don't mock it. I'm not mocking it. Uh just I'd be careful if I was you. No. For real though, I always just try to be careful not to um mock things because I'm afraid of what if I'm wrong, and then I don't want to be found to be the asshole who didn't believe. You know what I mean? So that's why I'm really open to shit. I'm really open to shit. Like I will believe because I'd rather believe than find out that I didn't believe in something that was true. And, you know, I'm like, what if there's really ghosts and shit? You know what I mean? I'm like, just because I haven't seen a ghost doesn't mean that there's no ghosts. And I'm not gonna mock the ghosts because I don't want it to piss, you know, to get pissed off.
SPEAKER_00And I don't believe in ghosts, but even I don't mock any ghosts. I'm not gonna be mocking them. I'm not gonna no do not mock ghosts, no. That's everybody knows you're not supposed to do that. Okay, so we've been talking about ghosts and other things. Lost our train of thought, had to rewind a little bit. We were talking about there was a there was a point that I was trying to get at. I thought it was interesting that um they do show those things, the horoscope coming true, the curse that was put on, the whatever sigil or whatever he was trying to write with his blood on the van, and then this horrible thing happens to them. When it also could be just as simple as, these are some really fucked up people who are doing really fucked up shit. Okay, so coming back to everybody that's in the van, we have two couples and then we have Franklin. And I wanted to talk about Franklin because where I'm curious before I say anything, what are what are your thoughts on Franklin? Franklin.
SPEAKER_01I think he was this is the thing with his character for me, is that I think he the acting really shows a lot with it when it comes to some of the characters, and that's why I just don't like to watch it so that I scrutinize, you know, every piece of it. But I think he was very weak, and the the what the bad acting comes across, you know. And so for me, my opinion is he's a character, he's a character, but he's kind of like the wit one of the weak points in it. The the best part he has is his death scene, which I really think is great, you know. But not in a mean way, not in a mean way. That was a just it a a stronger point for his character, um, to see him scared, and how is he gonna react in that part? That's why Scream Queens they they do so well because they can scream, they can show that fear that comes across that moment of their death and or like they're facing death and everything like that. So for Franklin, his best part is that whole scene where he's um being chased and and like right towards him. Like he's not being chased, but what's the word? Like like leather face is coming right at him. And so he has to react, and it's like scream, scream like you're dying. You should sound like you're, you know, in peril. And I think he did a really good job of that. So that's what I that's what I think of him. And I'm sure your question was deeper, but that's what I see.
SPEAKER_00No, I my question was not deeper. My question was just what were your opinions on him? And I actually that's very interesting that you say that. Um yeah, uh the acting, I I get that. Um, I was just gonna share that um I find I find it interesting that a lot of people are annoyed by his character. You see a lot of people talking about how he's like annoying or just uh different things he does in the movie. And I feel like, in my opinion, I feel bad for him because I feel like everybody else is treating him like shit. So why is it looking to people who are watching the movie that Franklin is annoying because I don't see that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. I get you. I get where you're coming from. So I was just answering I answered the question without thinking of about knowing about that too. Well, I mean, I knew I knew about that. I forgot that people really didn't like the character, I mean, period. And where I was like, I found more fault with the acting than anything to do with the character. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Yeah. I guess I'm always just ready to be like, I want to hear your opinion of why he's annoying. Cause I don't get it. Because throughout the whole movie, I g it sounds like Sally invited him. And then I guess when he actually said yeah, she was just like, oh shit, now he has to come along with us after, you know, she was probably just being nice by inviting him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there he's a major like sticking out like a sore thumb because you know, they're couples. They're couples, and they brought the brother.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. They're what is he's is he younger? I don't I I don't know. Probably doesn't really matter because all that matters is I feel like they're they're just being mean to him. All he's doing is trying to make the best of it. He of uh he's, you know, when he's having conversations with them in the car. And I think he's just uh like he'll just share, like, it's hot, you know. It's just like, well, yeah, it he's why is that ignoing you guys that he's telling you guys that you know they're that he's feeling these things. I don't know. I just I find his character uh very true, I guess. Like just like like a regular some, you know, person. And it just I maybe that's why it annoys me when people say they don't I'm like he's he's like everybody else. Anyways. Um they pick up the hitchhiker, and the hitchhiker, I don't think has a name in IMDB, does he?
SPEAKER_01No, they just have him listed as hitchhiker.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's why I was just like, uh Edwin Neal is the guy who plays him.
SPEAKER_00This part always bugs the shit out of me. The fact that they let him stay in the van for so long. Yeah. It's like they had so many opportunities to like kick him out, so many opportunities, and they let him get away with so much. It's like the first time he did anything, it would have been out.
SPEAKER_01And they even when he cut himself, they still let him stay for them. They didn't say anything, they were all just sitting there, like, okay, next.
SPEAKER_00And they literally were, they really, literally were just staring at him. It was so weird. Um, I obviously don't blame the driver because you know, a driver's trying to keep his eyes on the road. So, you know, if he's not being told to pull over, but everybody else should have been like, dude, pull over. We're kicking this weirdo out. Um, do we go to the gas station after this or was the gas station before this?
SPEAKER_01Ooh, the gas station was, oh my gosh, I think next. Oh, yeah, that's right. I just remember thinking the car washer, and I thought you should have asked the car washer to wash the the print off of him, but I could have that backwards. I could be imagining that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I was thinking that. I was thinking the the same thing. Like, why didn't you all wash it? Um, but talking about uh well, I guess we weren't talking about it, but I'm gonna talk about it now. How many warnings they get to mind their business there at the gas station. Um That's true.
SPEAKER_01They're also told by the gas station attendant. Yeah. Um that you know, they should just stay away from there and mind their own. Business. I mean, exactly. Exactly. It's like, why are they not listening to that? Those aren't red flags. Those are that's worse. It's like if it's a fire in your face.
SPEAKER_00I like that, a fire in your face. Um, no, but yeah, I mean, they they had so much opportunity to just listen, not go. When they end up going, I thought I was gonna, I thought, I thought I was gonna talk more about that, but then I realized I wanted it, I started thinking ahead as far as what happened next in the movie, and I'm like, no, I want to talk about that instead. When they're in the house, you know, when they do go out to the house, the old Franklin house, or no, it's not the Franklin house, uh, it's Franklin's family's house. Um, but uh when fucking Franklin is downstairs and everybody's upstairs and they're laughing and they're fucking low and they're having a good time. And even before I remember this part of the movie, I will always be like, what the fuck are they laughing about? And then you see fucking Franklin get pissed off at their laughing too. And it's just so funny. See, this is why I like Franklin. He's like everybody's like, he maybe because he thinks like I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_01Um, but I always think about it, I was like, what the fuck are they laughing at? I like the way he mocks him. I like the way he mocks him. He's successive, and I like it because that's such brotherly, like, that sounds so brotherly, you know.
SPEAKER_00Oh, but yeah, I love that. I love that part. Um then we have two of them take off and go because they're gonna go swimming. Yeah, sure. It's like 98 degrees, I think I heard in the uh over the radio. So Oh, really?
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah. So it's supposed to be damn hot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So I'm like, okay, that's you know, that's forgivable. I get it. You think you, you know, like somewhere nearby, nearby, I thought, um, to go jump in. What is it, a creek or a pond? I can't even fucking remember. I know I it's a watering hole. I don't know. Something old and shut the fuck up. I swear to fucking god. Was it the watering hole? Okay, so we had a little bit of technical difficulties, how to fix that. And so now we're jumping back into the conversation, not remembering exactly where we left it off, but it's not a big deal. Everybody's watched this movie. We can just be talking about it. Um we've seen it. Um the killing, the first one, the very first killing, is by far for me, one of the most brutal things ever. There's something about that very quick, simple thump. Oh my god, it gets me every single fucking time. It's it's just too fucking real or something. I don't know. It's just uh it always creeps me out.
SPEAKER_01And that's why I think that the movie does best not watching it that often, whereas you can watch it each time and appreciate it. I always feel like um it's something that I could just see every once in a while, like in a long while, it does better for me.
SPEAKER_00That's when we first get introduced to Leatherface, of course. Um Kirk Kirk is his name. Kirk is the first one that gets killed. I'm sorry, I'm looking over the names of everybody because I always do this. Uh Kirk is the first one to get killed, and his girlfriend is always pisses me off because she wanted to not go to the house, up to the house. He insists on going up to the house. It really, really bothers me that he's all up over not. I know, don't blame the victim, but come on, you served yourself on a platter. He didn't listen. He didn't listen. Not only did he not listen, he like went out of his way to get killed. It's just like he went out of his way. What was he expecting? Seriously, come on. What do you think's gonna happen if you walk into somebody else's house in the middle of nowhere?
SPEAKER_01That that's always was the thing about the movies back then. I was like, I wonder how often that was actually like just a casual thing people did walk into each other's houses. I remember my neighbor kept doing that, but that was like embarrassing for him. And because he didn't know where he fucking lived, and he kept walking into my house. Oh, that's sad. I know. I was like, our house, I know we were like town homes, okay? It's like I know they're identical looking. However, I had like this big thing right by the door that showed, and I had all different kinds of plants, and and it just it just didn't look the same, you know, as the neighborhouse. It didn't look the same. And so these guys are just walking into random people's homes expecting not to get hit on the head with a sledgehammer or whatever, or a little sledgehammer. They weren't that big. I think that's what you call like a mallet or something like that.
SPEAKER_00Has a cool name. Oh my god, what were we even talking about? Oh, that deaf. Yes, that deaf. Oh, yeah, her Pam. Pam didn't ask to be killed, she was trying very hard not to get killed, and then she gets killed. She the iconic hook scene when she gets put on the hook, and everybody would remember that they saw it go through her and all that, but in reality, you know, obviously it didn't, they didn't show anything. Um, that's part of it. That's the whole, you know, that you imagine it, and then when you see her hanging um from the front and everything like that. But I remember that being a thing, like it was so gory. It's like, well, they never fucking show anything. But that's what's so great about that scene. Um, but yeah, every time they put her, you know, he puts her on there. Um and then later on when she's in the freezer, I never understand that. That always is like, I don't get it. Like, why does she get up and flop around for a second, but then she falls back down? That's true. She was frozen. She was frozen. I don't get it.
SPEAKER_01She comes out and she's all like, and then it takes forever to get frozen. She was just flopping around, like, you know, because that's the thing that they were doing that the cows do. They flop around or whatever, you know. They're supposed to be like part of the whole thing. So she's supposed to be like a cow with the freezer.
SPEAKER_00Well, not in the freezer. Shut up. I don't get it. That's why I'm asking. I honestly I hey, remember, I'm a fan of the movie. I just I always wonder these things. Like, what was up with the flopping? I don't get it. Oh my god, I lost my train of thought. No, not a big deal because I'm just talking about being in that house. How much money they spent on the decor, which I absolutely love. I love going to like oddity shops and shit like that. But that entire house is kind of like a curio oddities shop itself. Um all the little uh taxidermy stuff, all the the bones. And I think I I always tell myself to fact check this because I see it written in a lot of places. Um, but I want to find the source for it because I always hear that these are real bones.
SPEAKER_01I guess I never think about whether they're real or not, but that'd be pretty cool if they were real.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's kind of like in poltergeist they had they used the real because they were cheaper.
SPEAKER_01You said that, but I don't think that that that is true. I think that's an urban legend. And we have the internet, everyone. We have Google.
SPEAKER_00You go ahead and Google that. I'm gonna keep talking. Cause I'm telling you, that's a fact. Okay, so Sally is in the house, she gets away, um, but then she gets caught again at the gas station by the very brother, maniac, that warned them away from the house, which is actually true to his. They keep his character kind of consistent as far as like his really weird fucked up morals. Because he does say later on when um they're at the table have uh having dinner. I can't believe I said having dinner, like it's a normal dinner that they end up having. Um at dinner time. Yeah, at supper time, actually was supper time, I remember that. Um, he says that he doesn't like the killing part. You know, he'll take care of the meat, but he doesn't like the killing part. So when he's uh telling them not to go to the house um in the beginning at the gas station, when he's telling all of them that, I think that's very true to his character. They're being consistent with his character. Um didn't want these kids, you know, in front of him to uh end up getting killed. He tried to warn them away. And then, you know, later on he's like, you know, yeah, you're gonna get killed, but you know, I don't like taking care of that myself. Um kind of awesome when they uh this when they're around the dining room table and they're mocking Sally and all that while she's tied up is basically what I was is the scene I was setting up. Um yeah. Sorry, I wanted to talk about a few things and I couldn't remember which one I wanted to talk about. But uh so I'm gonna rewind a little bit and I was talking about the um the table scene. Okay, yeah. So did you Google it? Did you hear the way I said Google? Did you Google it?
SPEAKER_01No, I didn't.
SPEAKER_00I completely just forgot to. That's what I thought you were doing this whole time. That's why I was like talking and talking. I was just listening to you.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, I'll keep talking. It's just I was just listening to you. I was just listening to you. I was like, cool, you know, I want to hear about this too. Uh like I like story time.
SPEAKER_00But uh no, I really I was really, really curious because I'm about to get into like uh uh makeup. I think everything is done pretty good in this whole movie, uh, done well, except I have to say, grandpa's makeup. What the fuck? I I know they're trying to make him look like he's old and all that, but I'm thinking like the whole time, this movie works until they have that mummified grandpa. It just that's the part that always just like, I don't know. It's just something about it. It always throws me out of it a little bit. Like I could totally get into it like every other way, because I don't know, it's it's still like believable, like real world, you know, people doing horrible things to each other. Um, I I think that's why I like this movie. I we've discussed before that those are the kind of hor horror movies that really get me. It is the ones that were man, man is the bad guy, you know. Um and you get that in this one, in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, uh, the original, except when they have grandpa on the screen, because then it becomes conical. Everything else is fine, it fits. But then there's something about seeing grandpa that is just like, seriously? Really? There wasn't any other way you could have done this. I know that's mean, but it that's what always throws me out of it. I guess I'm the only one. I remember, I do remember reading that the smells were so horrible that a lot of the reaction you get from uh from Sally is like real because they were just sitting in stanch and heat and and all that. And every time I watch this movie, it's one of those movies that I can feel and smell and you know sense really well because I think that griminess really plays off or comes through, I think, really well. Um, and then to read that in actuality, yeah, it's because they were actually in 90 plus degree weather, a table that had been sitting out with like uh cheese and ended up rotting over days and stuff like that. So they're actually sitting in this funk while they're going through, you know, and and and you know, acting out this horrible scene. So a lot of what you see there is actually, you know, like authentic. There, that's the word I'm looking for. There you go. So she does get away by some weird this is another part. These are like trained, like literally trained killers. Uh, you know, yeah, they they were taking care of pigs and cattle too. I can't remember if they, you know, if it's cattle as well. But they're like, they're literally trained to kill and they let her get away.
SPEAKER_01It's like the way she gets away is comical. It is if you think about it just for a second, the the ways that she just runs away at that particular point. That was it. She just runs away at a particular point. She runs away at a particular point. I love that. That's it.
SPEAKER_00That's how she gets away. It is, it is very basic. It is, um, I also it bugs the shit out of me. See, I think when they brought grandpa in is when they they probably lost me uh up until a certain point. But because the way they're chasing her down, it's like y'all want her to get away. I don't get it. I don't get it. Why are you fucking with her? Just if you really wanted to eat her, you would have killed her by now. So basically, they're saying, please get away. You know, run away for your life and you will be free. Um, because they're like actively working on not catching her. One of them zigzagging. Fucking Leatherface is doing his dance with the with the chainsaw. It's like they're doing everything but catching her and killing her. It's it's like, of course she got away. You guys aren't taking this shit seriously. Take it seriously, take it seriously. So she gets away. So it's good for her. Good for her. I'm not saying that I wanted them to catch her, it's just like they had plenty of opportunity to catch her. Um, but this is the part that I also always wonder. I've like again, I've watched this movie so many times, and you would think I would look this shit up, but I never do because I enjoy watching the movie as it is. But the part where the um the truck driver, he just runs off, he's running off into the sunset or sunrise or whatever. The sunrise. And what happens to him? It's like we don't see him again. It's like, did he make it? I hope he made it, because you don't see him.
SPEAKER_01I'm sure he does because I don't mention him dying in the whole story in the beginning. So what story? In the beginning, they talk about the kids getting loose, you know, and you know, getting well, the the kids dying, and that's how they said it. Like, you know, that's the should have gotten away. Oh, that they say numbers. I okay. See, I guess I don't know. Now I'm just making shit up. I think I just remember them saying the story of what was what happened at the beginning. No, yeah. But I maybe I'm confusing the all the movies now.
SPEAKER_00That was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 1974. Not to be confused with the other two. I believe there are two other movies. See, I this is one movie where I'm a fan of the first one. I'm not not a fan of the rest. I'm just not a fan. Does that make sense? Like I don't I didn't follow. I watched each, yeah, I watched each one once, and I was like, okay. And then I I don't think I've re-watched any of them. But my point was, I think that there are two other the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, right?
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna say yes, and I'm not even gonna look that up. I'm not even gonna Google it. I'm just gonna say it's true. And I think it's like 2003, 2023. I'm just gonna go with those numbers. They sound cool.
SPEAKER_00You're I love how you're just making this shit up. I love it. No, the reason is it's like I always it's the literally the exact same name. It's not like a a a two or a three or something like that. I love that you trust me in in telling you that that other one exists so that you can roll with it. What are we watching next week?
SPEAKER_01I don't know, actually. Do you already know? And you didn't tell me? Because you you had all last months ready for me, and I have no idea. But yeah, this is your month, slashers. Oh my gosh. So I'm the one who should know. Well, it'll be a nice surprise for everybody next week because it will be gonna be a nice surprise for me, too.
